Start with accurate visible information
Structured data might label a business name, article author, product price or video. JSON-LD is a common format for those labels. It should describe this page truthfully. It cannot repair an unclear offer or make unsupported claims true.
Missing schema is not automatically a problem
Not every page needs every type. A course sales page is not automatically eligible for every Google feature. Your platform or SEO plugin may already generate markup. Adding a second conflicting block can make the facts less consistent.
Google does not require special AI schema for its AI features. Structured data is not a guarantee of ranking, a rich result or a citation. Do not add invented ratings, availability or prices to satisfy a validator.
There are several different checks
A syntax check asks whether the JSON can be read. Schema.org validation checks the vocabulary and structure. Google’s Rich Results Test checks supported Google features, not every schema type or AI service. You still need to compare the facts with the page. Passing one check does not prove the others.
Made-up example / Course creator
A price that changed on the page
A course now costs €90 but its existing markup still says €70. Correcting the existing price is more useful than adding another block that repeats the conflict. Check whether the platform manages that value automatically before editing code.
One thing to try
Try it on one public page
- Ask your website person or inspection tool what structured data is already present.
- Compare its main facts with the visible page.
- Repair confirmed errors in the existing source. Add a suitable type only where it serves a real purpose.
- Use the Schema Markup Validator and, where relevant, Google’s Rich Results Test.
How to check the result
- Recheck the published page, not just the draft code.
- Confirm that syntax is valid, the selected type fits and facts match visible content.
- Keep unsupported feature checks separate from errors. Valid markup does not prove that a search service will use it.
Keep the page address, date and evidence. A page improvement is not a promise of rankings or AI citations.
