Find out what is wrong first
Write down the exact mistake. “It says I work in Dublin, but I now work in Waterford” is something you can investigate. “AI does not understand me” is too broad.
If the answer includes links, open them. One may lead to an old page or business listing. A linked page is a clue, not proof that it caused every part of the answer. AI tools can also make mistakes that are not supported by their sources.
Put the correct details where people can find them
Check your contact page, service pages and the business profiles you manage. Correct old details so they tell the same story. If another website has the mistake, ask its owner to update that page.
Where the AI app offers a way to report an incorrect answer, use it. That reports the problem; it does not guarantee a correction or tell you when a future answer will change.
Made-up example / Wedding photographer
An old location keeps appearing
A photographer has moved from Dublin to Waterford. Their contact page is current, but their About page and an old directory listing still say Dublin.
They update their own page and ask the directory owner to correct its listing. They keep a note of the changes so they can check again later. This is a sensible repair, not a guaranteed way to control AI answers.
One thing to try
Make a short correction list
- Save the answer, date and exact question. Copy any source links.
- Write the wrong fact beside the correct fact.
- Check your website and profiles for that detail. Correct pages you manage and request updates elsewhere.
- Record what you changed. Recheck later, keeping any new answer alongside the original.
How to check the result
- Return to the same page or saved answer and compare it with your notes.
- Check the specific detail you changed. Keep anything you could not verify marked as unknown.
Fix the facts you control. Keep a record of anything that remains wrong.
